Bad luck with spam filters

I just noticed that some of my sent e-mails haven't been delivered. The bad thing is, some mails have really been important, such as an application for a job or a registration for a congress. I didn't notice, that the mails haven't been delivered …
I relay my mails with a local SMTP server to the smtp server of the mail provider, which works quite well – but not with google's smtp server. This one needs TLS authentication, which I didn't know – but unfortunately the error message was catched by google's spam filters – the error messages were put into the spam folder and not forwarded to my local IMAP. I logged on to the web frontend of gmail today and so I found out. *duh*
